Bagh Block Printing Gets a New Future

Madhya Pradesh has approved a new ₹20.6-crore Craft & Tourism Village in Kukshi to revive and scale Bagh Block Printing, one of India’s most intricate textile traditions. The project will house design-training spaces, artisan work units, and craft-tourism infrastructure. The project will include workshops, training centres, a craft museum, retail spaces, and homestays — creating an integrated ecosystem where artisans can produce, train, showcase, and earn sustainably. This initiative gives artisans access to design mentoring, modern equipment, and better income pathways. It positions craft villages as creative microeconomies — where heritage, livelihood, and innovation strengthen one another.
